Riverhead Tickets
Speeding tickets and other traffic tickets received in Riverhead will end up at either the Riverhead Town Court located at 210 Howell Avenue, Riverhead or the Southampton Town Court located at 32 Jackson Avenue, Hampton Bays, NY depending on where you received the ticket. For example, tickets received around exit 71 on the expressway in Riverhead will end up at the Riverhead Town Court while tickets received near the correctional facility in Riverhead will end up at the Southampton Town Court.
The most common Riverhead traffic tickets coming into our office are speeding tickets. All speeding tickets will have an adverse effect on your license All speeding convictions carry points on your license. The number of points will depend on how fast over the limit you are convicted of going. It is common for speeding tickets received in Riverhead to be written for 21 mph to 30 mph over the limit. Those speeds carry 6 points. Higher speeds, such as 31 mph to 40 mph over the limit carry 8 points, and speeds 41 mph or more over the limit carry 11 points. An accumulation of over 10 points on your license over an 18 month period will lead to an automatic suspension. A conviction to 3 speeds with violation dates within 18 month of each other will lead to a 6 month suspension of your license. This is aside from the fines, surcharges, NYS driver assessment fees and increased insurance rates that can result from a conviction for speeding.
